Special Event to benefit breast cancer research at Stony Brook Medicine
Stony Brook, NY – A sure cure for anyone with cabin fever this winter will be A “Taste” of Stony Brook Village …Ladies Night In, on Tuesday, February 26 from 6 pm to 8 pm at Ward Melville Heritage Organization’s Educational & Cultural Center.
Over 20 of the shops and restaurants in the Village will participate in this mega event offering food samples, demos, raffles, give-aways, a Chinese auction and even 90s themed music and dancing where the audience can learn the Macarena with Roseland School of Dance! Another feature will be a fashion show celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Chico’s in Stony Brook Village, their first store in New York State. They will showcase both current and vintage Chico’s outfits, and offer free gifts and raffles. Guests will also enjoy the music of world-renowned singer/guitarist Roberta Fabiano, who has appeared on numerous television shows including NBC’s Today Show with the Peter Duchin Orchestra and has performed for five Presidents and the Queen of England! All proceeds for the event will go towards breast cancer research at Stony Brook Medicine.
Shops and restaurants participating to date include Three Village Inn with Beef Bourguignon, whipped potatoes and root vegetable tastings; Sweet Mama’s offering mac and cheese varieties including buffalo and bacon ranch; The Country House with hors d’oeuvres including lobster, chicken, shrimp, spinach and artichoke; Pentimento’s samplings of Pasta Orecchiette and Broccoli Rabe; Robinson’s Tea Room offering scones with jelly and cream; Fratelli’s Italian Eatery with rice balls and assorted paninis and Crazy Beans offering samplings of their veggie wraps and chicken quesadillas. A seven-tiered display of chocolate samples will be on hand from Chocolate Works, The Crushed Olive will serve up blood orange brownies plus tastings and Blue Salon & Spa will have a mini spa as well as mini makeup demos, a raffle for a free cut and blowout and more! Brew Cheese will also offer tastings from the fine art of Raclette, the cheesy creations formed when pouring or scraping traditional Swiss melting cheese.
The cost is $35 pp and various wines will also be included. The WMHO’s Educational & Cultural Center is located at 97P Main Street in the rear of the Stony Brook Village Center.
