After spending the beginning of the 2020 season on the Seattle Seahawks practice team, former Stony Brook captain Gavin Heslop was elevated to the active roster for the Week 4 game against the Miami Dolphins.
The SBU defensive back and Yonkers native was the fifth Seawolf to be activated to an NFL roster after this past Sunday. Safety Chris Cooper was the last SBU alum to reach that feat last season with the Atlanta Falcons.
Other alums include Will Tye (2015/New York Giants), linebacker Victor Ochi (2016/New York Jets), and offensive lineman Timon Parris (2018/Washington Redskins).
Heslop and safety Damarious Randall were given the promotion on Saturday following injuries to safety Jamal Adams and cornerback Quinton Dunbar.
While Heslop didn’t see game-time action, his team defeated the Dolphins, 31-23.
