Fedora Lounge Boutique Hair Salon has settled nicely into its new digs in the Village of Port Jefferson.
Owner Kristine Murillo and her staff welcomed several members of the community on Thursday for a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new location at 404 Main Street.
“It was challenging at first with all the COVID-19 restrictions,” said Murillo. “But we’re fortunate, everything has been great so far.”
The celebration came exactly three months since Murillo moved into the spot — her first location, which opened in 2014, was located in Upper Port Jeff in the shopping center that houses Hour Escape.
Fedora Lounge’s new space is nearly three times the size of the old salon, which has allowed Murillo to expand her services.
In addition to styling, cutting and coloring hair, she also provides eyelash and nail services, makeup, teeth whitening, waxing, and reflexology.
Aside from the plus of having a much bigger salon, Murillo loves being in the heart of the downtown, right next to Theatre Three.
“I love seeing all the dogs,” said a smiling Murillo on seeing people walk past her shop with their pets. “It’s really great seeing people. I love it down here.”
