Join Buddy the Elf, the Griswold family, and others as we celebrate Christmas in July at Movie Lot Drive-In on 7/23-7/26 at the Smith Haven Mall. With Christmas only five months away, the weekend movie schedule focuses on mega-hit, feel-good holiday films. Information on the schedule, safety guidelines, showtimes and ticket availability, is available at www.MovieLotDriveIn.com.
MOVIE LOT, a pop-up drive-in movie experience, has entertained nearly 4,000 cars since it launched in May. The much-anticipated list for the next round of movies, shown on the giant 52-foot screen erected in the parking lot of the Smith Haven Mall, includes:
- 7/23: “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” (9 p.m.)
- 7/24: “Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas” (9 p.m.)
- 7/25: “Elf” (9 p.m.)
- 7/26: “Home Alone” (9 p.m.)
“Holiday movies always make people smile and we’re celebrating Christmas in July with this newest lineup of drive-in movies,” said Lauren Powers, Senior Director at Starfish Junction. “We’re showing the most popular Christmas movies this weekend, not many people can say they’ve watched these movies from their hatchback wearing shorts. I know people will really get a kick out of this. Something different, something fun to do. We’re expecting a sell-out for the entire weekend.”
Lake Grove was among the first Long Island towns to offer post-quarantine entertainment for local residents. With sold-out showings, MOVIE LOT confirmed that Long Islanders are ready for a fun and safe way to embrace summer recreation as shelter-in-place restrictions loosen.
While drive-in theaters are staging a comeback across the country, Starfish Junction is positioning itself as one of the leaders here on Long Island. Future showings will include movies perfect for date nights, family fun nights, girl’s night out, sing-alongs, and classic films. There are a limited number of tickets available for each showing. Tickets are on sale now ($40 per carload) and must be purchased online in advance at the MOVIE LOT website to adhere to the promise of contactless processing.
Ticketholders are permitted to bring their own food and snacks to enjoy during the show. Attendees may also consider Smith Haven Mall restaurants for curbside pick up before filing into the lot for the movie. Portable restrooms will be available for use. The Smith Haven Mall is located in Lake Grove. The showings will take place rain or shine, all ticket sales are final. Tickets and info at www.MovieLotDriveIn.com. Embed from Getty Images
