Metered parking opens back up in the Village of Port Jefferson on July 1, according to the village’s official parking Facebook page.

The meters have been offline since early December to encourage holiday shopping in the winter months. The parking program freeze, which typically lasts until the springtime, was pushed back to now due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Metered parking is found in municipal lots in the downtown; there is free street parking with time constraints.

There will be free parking in Village lots Monday through Wednesday, from now until winter.

On Thursdays, the rate is 50 cents an hour, and it’s $1 per hour Friday through Sunday.

Port Jefferson residents with a resident sticker park free in the Village lots.
