Suffolk County Sheriff Errol D. Toulon, Jr. spent a majority of last Friday dropping off 700 handmade masks to essential workers and nursing homes.
Those face coverings were crafted by inmates, under Toulon’s Sewing Initiative his office started two weeks ago.
One of the places the Sheriff made a drop off was at Stop and Shop in South Setauket.
“I want all of you to know that you are essential to getting us all through this pandemic,” he told the store’s employees. “We at the Sheriff’s Office care about your safety and well-being and I thank you for your service to the community.”
