The Steam Room Restaurant is helping to feed the hungry during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Three weeks ago, the Port Jefferson seafood restaurant partnered with Welcome Friends Soup Kitchen to provide grab ‘n’ go meals for those in need. The food is available Mondays and Wednesdays from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at St Paul’s Church in Port Jefferson Station.

The Steam Room’s general manager Vinny Seiter started lending a hand after he learned the soup kitchen was struggling.

“The kitchens they cooked in started to close down and volunteers began to drop off,” said Seiter. “I have a kitchen ready to cook, so it was a perfect fit.”

The Steam Room’s kitchen has fed about 40 people a day, according to the GM. “And we will continue to do so for the length of this crisis,” said Seiter.

To support the Steam Room, you can order delivery or curbside pickup from them at 4 East Broadway in Port Jefferson. To place an order call
