New York Mets left-handed pitcher and Stony Brook native Steven Matz is aiming to help those hit hardest by the coronavirus outbreak.

Last week, Matz and his wife pledged $32,000 through his Tru32 program to New York City hospitals and first responders.

“Thanks to those who support and contribute to the program all year,” the Ward Melville graduate wrote on Twitter.

Part of the donation went to Elmhurst Hospital in Queens, near Citi Field.

Additionally, the 28-year-old is looking to raise more funds by selling Tru32 t-shirts. Learn more about them below.
