The national Hammer & Stain DIY Workshop chain has officially come to Long Island, in Sayville.
The do-it-yourself woodworking studio is now hosting workshops and private party events at its new digs at 15 Main Street.
Location owner Sandra Bernius transformed a former puppy store into the shiny new and spacious studio.
In a similar vein to the trendy paint-and-sip classes, guests at Hammer & Stain are guided by instructors through the process of transforming unfinished wood into attractive and colorful personalized works of art.
Customers can also take on “big build” projects, such as corn hole sets and and porch benches, and smaller jobs like a reindeer box Christmas decoration, Scrabble tiles, wall signs and brag boards.
“Hammer & Stain is such a nice addition to Main Street,” said Eileen Tyznar, president of The Greater Sayville Chamber of Commerce. “It is great to be able to have do-it-yourself workshops, as well as being able to have a place to host groups of people for a fun gathering.”
Bernius was inspired two years ago to open Hammer & Stain after she purchased a second-hand dresser, and refinished and personalized it for her daughter Sadie, who was 3 at the time.
