This popular Port Jefferson arts and crafts store has a new, larger space in town to call its own.
“Our store is a few hundred square feet bigger, allowing us to have more inventory,” said owner Toni Burns.
Additionally, Burns made the move because she loved the layout of the new location.
“We now have dedicated rooms for private lessons and a place for people to dye their own yarn,” she said.
The Knitting Cove sells a variety of items from yarn to completed knitted and crocheted items, like hats and other clothing. The store also sells personalized mugs.
Knitting has always been a big part of the store owner’s life.
“I always loved knitting,” Burns told GreaterPortJeff. “I call this my happy place; every time I come in here I feel good.”
The Ridge resident purchased the Knitting Cove four years ago, after knitting there for 15 years.
Since taking over, she’s made it a point to be more inclusive by hosting community events, such as its Knit Nights.
“The last Wednesday of every month we host Knit Nights,” Burns explained. “People can come in and knit for free; it’s really great.”
The Knitting Cove owner says knitting and crocheting is for everyone, not just the seasoned vets.
“We help everybody,” she said. “We offer a fun and homey spot where people can sit, hang out, knit, and see the pretty yarn.”
To celebrate the new space, the Knitting Cove will be host a grand opening on Nov. 21.
