Take a stroll through downtown Port Jefferson while enjoying outdoor shopping in the village.

That’s what is in store for the Port Jefferson Retailers Association‘s third annual Port Jefferson Village Sidewalk Sale on Saturday, Oct. 5. There is a rain date set for Oct. 6.

From 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., several retailers along Main Street and East Main Street will be selling their products, with some owners offering discounted rates on their goods.

“Walkthrough our beautiful village and get some great sidewalk deals,” said Steve Muñoz, founder of the retailer association. “Enjoy the perfect fall weather in downtown Port Jeff.”

Fair for Squares

The three women behind the newly opened retail stores at Chandler Square — Jennifer Hannaford Studios, Origin of Era, and Simple Good — will be teaming for their own festivities during the Sidewalk Sale.

From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., the store owners will be hosting Fair for Squares, an event that features an eclectic selection of artwork, clothing, accessories, food, live music, along with a performance from astrologer Colin Bedell.

“Part of the charm of this little courtyard is the community vibe that the shops emit,” said Jennifer Hannaford, of Jennifer Hannaford Studios, “and that carries over into the support of other micro-businesses with small batch mom and pop makers that create exciting pieces, but do not have a brick-and-mortar location to offer to the public.”

Hannaford Studios will offer 20 percent off on limited edition prints by Aubrey Ashburn and Jennifer Hannaford during that day only.

For the uninitiated, Hannaford Studios sells original artwork, specializing in underwater paintings; Origin of Era is women’s fashion retailers; and Simple Good offers sustainable and zero-waste gift items, from clothing to soaps to candles.

In addition to these three retailers, the other businesses in the square include the Port Jefferson Ice Cream Cafe, The Soap Box, The Spice & Tea Exchange, Sweet n’ Savory, Slurp Ramen, Port Jefferson Brewing Company, and Christina’s Fashion Handbags.

“Chandler Square is truly a one stop shopping haven,” said Hannaford.
