Throughout Greater Port Jeff, several organizations will be hosting gatherings on Wednesday in remembrance of the Sept. 11, 2001 terror victims.
Below is a quick guide.
The Centereach Fire Department will have a memorial service and lighting ceremony at its headquarters, 9 South Washington Avenue, at 7 p.m. There will be performances by the Centereach High School choir. Refreshments to be served afterward.
There will be a ceremony held at the Selden Fire Department headquarters (44 Woodmere Place) at 7:45 p.m. The tribute will feature firefighters, scouts, and local school and community groups.
There will be a 9/11 ceremony at Harborfront Park, hosted by the Vigiano Brothers Lodge #3436 of the Order Sons of Italy, at 6:30 p.m. There will be coffee and cookies will be served after the service.
From 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., the Rocky Point Fire Department 9/11 Memorial Committee will host their ceremony on the corner of Route 25A and Tesla St. in Shoreham, near the Shoreham Firehouse. Refreshments will be served afterward.
The Setauket Fire Department’s 9/11 memorial will be at 7:45 p.m. at 394 Nicolls Road, Stony Brook. There will be a candlelight service to honor and remember those who lost their life.
