Rocky Point’s Hawaiian-inspired eatery Maui Chop House is organizing a special occasion that benefits the local fire department.

On Sunday, June 2, the North Shore restaurant will be hosting a fundraiser for the Rocky Point Fire Department’s 90th-anniversary parade, which is being planned for sometime next summer.

“We are so grateful to Maui Chop House,” said Debra Handel, secretary for the Rocky Point Fire Department. “Thi is a big mark for us; we haven’t done a celebration like this since our 75th anniversary.”

The festivities begin at 2 p.m. with a Chinese auction, 50-50 raffles, $5 pulled pork sandwiches, and $2 pork tacos. Donations will also be collected at the door.

All the proceeds from the night will go toward helping run the parade.

“We really want to help the people that volunteer to help the community out,” said John Louis, Maui Chop House’s co-owner.
