Parking in the Village of Port Jefferson will remain free for an additional 30 days, according to the village website.

Metered parking will resume on Monday, April 15.

The Village Board approved the measure on March 18. The move was recommended by the parking committee.

Parking will continue to be metered until the end of the Dickens Festival in December.

The Village website says metered parking for this year will end on Dec. 8, 2019.

Hours of operation for metered parking will be noon through 11 p.m.

The village charges $.50 per hour Monday through Thursday and $1 per hour Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Port Jefferson residents who have a valid resident sticker displayed can park free in village lots.

In addition to meters, visitors can pay using an app they download to their smartphone. Instructions can be found online here.
