This weekend, July 7 and 8, is what many people lovingly call on social media, “the best weekend of the year.”
It is the 42nd year that Marchand’s School of Dance of Miller Place will hold their annual dance recital, and the whole community is buzzing — just search for the hashtag, #iamamarchanddancer and see for yourself.
Marchand’s is a family studio, run by Marge Marchand and her daughter, Sommer Wendelken, and it is often filled with Marchand’s five granddaughters, her nieces, and all of the friends that have been dancing there for many years.
The importance of family and a supportive community shines through every dance class at the school, and celebrating confidence, grace, and the power of dance to bring people together is what makes the recital weekend so special for all involved.
The Marchand’s Recital will be held at Stony Brook’s Staller Center to what will likely be sold out shows on Saturday at 12:00 and 5:00, and again on Sunday at 1:00 and 6:00.
With a special glow-in-the-dark treat planned for the audience this year, the 42nd annual Marchand’s School of Dance recital is sure to be the best one yet!
