Get ready to get your green on.

On Saturday, June 16, the Greater Port Jefferson Chamber of Commerce will be hosting its 10th annual Green Fest.

“The Green Fest is nice, family low-impact event that helps promote sustainable ways of living,” said the chamber’s director of operations, Barbara Ransome.

The day, which is co-sponsored by the Times Beacon Record, will feature a green market place and farmers market, refreshments, guest speakers, eco-friendly cars, crafts, vendors, live demonstrations and children’s activities.

The event is rain or shine and will run from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Port Jefferson Village Center and Harborfront Park. The first 100 attendees receive a free canvas bag.

“We, at the Greater Port Jefferson Chamber of Commerce are proactive and Green-Minded,” reads a statement from the chamber. “We are here to educate, inform, entertain, and enlighten people on how to make choices for a greener world.”

There’s also a paper-shredding event, so bring your sensitive paperwork to properly dispose of — and protect yourself, your clients or customers from identity theft.

The shredding runs from 1 – 3:30 p.m.
