NYSDOT Travel Alerts |

Motorists should expect lane closures beginning Wednesday, May 16, on State Route 25A (North Country Road) between Main Street and Suffolk County Route 97 (Nicolls Road) in the Town of Brookhaven, Suffolk County.

There will be a single lane traffic pattern during off-peak daytime hours between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Flag persons will be stationed to direct traffic. Portable variable message signs have been placed in the area to advise motorists.

Crews will strip away two inches of worn asphalt and replace it with new pavement at eight locations in that approximately 1 ½ mile stretch.  New lane markings will be painted after completion of the resurfacing.

Work on this road is expected to be completed in less than two weeks. As with most road projects, work may be cancelled, postponed, or prolonged due to inclement weather.

Motorists are reminded to drive carefully through the work zone, obey any speed restrictions that may be in place, and the instructions of the flag persons for their safety and the safety of the highway work crew.

For real-time travel information, motorists should call 511 or visit www.511NY.org or the mobile site at m.511ny.org, New York State’s official traffic and travel information source.

The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) appreciates the patience and cooperation of motorists and the local community while this bridge maintenance project is undertaken to help assure the continued protection of all motorists.
