A new Chinese restaurant offering authentic Asian recipes called Xiao Si Chuan has opened in the former building that housed the popular Tex-Mex restaurant East Coast Burrito.
“This isn’t going to be American Chinese food, this is going to be more traditional, very spicy,” owner Bryan Nie, a 20-year-old student at Stony Brook University, told GreaterPortJeff earlier this year.
Nie, who was born in China, is a computer science and business major at SBU who’s long thought about opening his own place that shows off his ethnic roots.
That’s when he decided to open up shop with his family at 736 Route 25-A.
“The difference between traditional Chinese food and American Chinese food is the different way its cooked,” explained Nie. “It is about the cooker, the chef.”
